Right now I am doing homework with four of my friends. I am having such a hard week of homework and this I can’t wait until I am finished with my online classes because the work for these classes are harder than any of my other classes. Right now my UGS class is really hard and the paper we have to do is going to take a really long time. I had such a great time in Dubai but I feel that now since we are back home it is harder to write about Dubai since we don’t get to go to more of the Museums. I also think this WRA class is really hard to do because I am never sure if everything is how she wants it because its hard to know without asking questions. I really enjoy all my classes but I think they will start getting a lot easier once two of my online classes are over. I also feel that work is taking up too much of my time. I only work twice a week and then once every other weekend but with my classes and everything it makes me feel like I never have a break. I hope in the summer I can get a job that I really enjoy. I think that it would be fun to work at a summer camp or a Daycare or something of those sorts.

For my project my group is researching AIDS. AIDS is something that most people don’t know much about. AIDS is Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome. HIV stands for Human Immunodeficiency Virus. There is not a cure to AIDS at this point in time but they are working to find a cure.

“AIDS is caused by HIV. HIV is a virus that gradually attacks immune system cells. As HIV progressively damages these cells, the body becomes more vulnerable to infections, which it will have difficulty in fighting off. It is at the point of very advanced HIV infection that a person is said to have AIDS. It can be years before HIV has damaged the immune system enough for AIDS to develop.”

“Since the first cases of AIDS were identified in 1981, more than 25 million people have died from AIDS. An estimated 1.8 million people died as a result of AIDS in 2009 alone.”

“Today, there are an estimated 33.3 million people living with HIV and AIDS worldwide.”

I got this information from the following website- http://www.avert.org/aids.htm

I have learned a lot about AIDS so far from researching it on the Avert website. I can’t wait till my group can learn more so we can inform the rest of our class.

Last week in class we learned a lot about cover letters in class and from our handbook. I have had to write resumes for jobs that I have had but I have never had to use a cover letter for my jobs. I learned a lot from the DK Handbook. I learned that you need to use a colon after you write Dear and their name. That is something that I didn’t learn in my class last semester. I took COM 240 last semester and I learned how to write a cover letter but I learned new things in this class that I didn’t learn in that class. I learned in my class last semester that we should use the word Enclosure and the end of our cover letter but in the DK Handbook it doesn’t tell us to do that. I agree with both of my classes where they talk about that there are two kinds of cover letters. There are some with job advertisements and then there are some that are for expressing interest in a company when you don’t know if they are hiring. Cover letters are something that companies pay a lot attention to when hiring people. It is hard to sum up your qualities in a short cover letter but if you want a company to know your best qualities you need to sum it up well. Cover letters may be tough to write but they are really important.
